Burden on big cities / Need of new cities in Pakistan.

Pakistan is the sixth-most populous country with a population exceeding 200 million people. The growth rate is 2% that is very high. The population of Pakistan is increasing alarmingly as said by Thomas Robert Malthus; “ Human population grows exponentially (i.e. doubling with each cycle) while food production grows at an arithmetic rate (i.e. by the repeated addition of a uniform increment in each uniform interval of time).
 
The population of the country is shifting/migrating towards big cities i.e Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, etc. for the better facilities of life. There are many reasons for shifting but most of them are Education, Medical, and employment facilities.
 
As we know that our economy is agriculture based and more than 70% population directly or indirectly depends upon agriculture. The exports of Pakistan are agriculture-based goods. Unfortunately, our rural areas have not been developed. Here farmers are using old and traditional methods for the production of goods. The output of important crops is decreasing.
 
In agriculture, there is no space for new manpower and people are unemployed, therefore they are shifting towards cities for employment. This sector has no capacity for more workers so people are coming here in cities for getting any suitable job i.e labor or office. The government is ignoring rural areas and not making industrial zones in this area. Therefore people of such areas are joining cities for better jobs and residency. They are also shifting their families because here they can find a job easily.
 
Population in rural areas increasing exponentially but resources are not increasing, therefore people are migrating to those areas where they can get a job for earning money. It is the fault of the government which is not constructing factories and mills in rural areas. When the government will put up the factories in such areas it will beneficial for both workers and investors. Manufacturers can get raw material easily at a low price and residents of such areas can get a job near to their houses.
 
So it is the responsibility of the government to build herself or urge private investors to invest in these areas. If jobs will not be provided here then obviously workers will shift to cities where the already population has been increased. This shifting is creating problems for residents of cities. A rush of cars and Traffic jams is the daily routine in these cities because the population has been increased heavily.
 
Similarly, education is the main reason for the shifting of population from rural areas to urban areas. Rural areas have no good college and university for the education of children. Even in some areas, there is no good school for the initial/earlier education. Most of the students from rural areas are coming to cities for higher education because all universities are here. Some of the whole families are shifting here for the education of their children. People want to give good education to their children and it is only possible in cities, therefore they are compelled to shift here.
 
Due to the shifting of such families, Burden in cities is increasing day by day sharply. So if the government to decrease/minimize this burden, it should build universities in rural areas. When they will get college or university near their houses, they will not come here for education.
 
The medical facility is also the main factor of shifting of people from rural to urban areas. There is no better hospital. If there is any government hospital then there will be no doctor for the treatment of poor patients. Most of the patients are being referred to big cities because there are no faculties in such hospitals. People of rural are very poor and they have no pay for costly treatment even there are no better ambulance services there, many patients die during shifting to hospitals from village to city. In addition to this, private hospitals are charging high fees for treatment that people cannot afford it. Therefore people are trying to settle here in cities for the better and less expensive facilities of hospitals.
 
In cities, government hospitals are working properly and charging less amount(free) for treatment. Here the ambulance service is also very good and free for all.
 
I requested to government that please make new cities near to big cities for decreasing the burden of the population. It is creating problems for the residents of cities. The population of big cities is increasing alarmingly so it should be controlled. So the government should build new cities or give facilities to existing cities in rural areas which they have no. The government should start new industrial zones in such areas and for this purpose government can decrease the taxes on installing a new plant here. The government can urge private investors to build new factories and industries thereby giving incentives and security.
 
The government should build new hospitals there. If already there is a hospital then increase & check the performance of doctors and other staff properly. Modern machinery should be provided in these hospitals. If it happened then no patient will come here.
 
Universities should be built up by the government in rural areas for higher education. Here new courses should be started for specializing in all important fields. When they will get good institutions in their areas then nobody will go to Lahore or Islamabad for education. where they have no face many problems i.e rent charges etc and can create problems for the residents of cities.
