Harmful effects of Plastic Bags.

Plastic Bag is the main source of pollution. It not only pollutes the environment but also damages natural beauty. Plastic bags are used in Pakistan on large scale without any hesitation and restriction. We can see that from the small shop (Dhaba)  to a big mall all are using plastic bags. Most of the companies are investing a huge amount in making beautiful plastic bags for their publicity. Each brand has a unique style of plastic bag.

The new government is looking worried about environmental pollution and has started a green Pakistan campaign on the country level to control the effects of global warming. It is a good step for the green Pakistan that was needed very earlier but is now initiated by this government. It is important for the next generation.
As we know that plastic bags are commonly used everywhere in Pakistan without hesitation. The usage of this bag must be banned by the government if they want to reduce the pollution in the country. It is the main source of pollution which can be seen in street garbage. It all always remains there because it is not damaged by anything like rain, bacteria, animals, and birds. They are not only harmful to human life but also animals, birds, and fishes in the water.
It stops the flow of water in water pipes and causes a huge problem for the supply of water. It creates tension for workers and consumers of this water. Because it is very difficult to detect the point where it has stopped the water in the pipe. Similarly, it affects the flow of water in street. A small plastic bag is enough to stop the smooth flow of water and the whole street will be filled with water due to this blockage.
It can also create a problem in sewerage pipe systems particularly in flood season. This will create a problem for the community and causes many diseases in that area.
It also affects natural beauty. People put it in parks, roads, and other public places without hesitation and regret. it affects the greenery of parks and mountains. Visitors put it on hilly areas that cause a bad impression of beauty. Recently, we saw it when people are allowed to visit the governor houses in Pakistan, they put such bags everywhere and damaged the beauty of buildings and beautiful green parks of governor houses.
Government should ban the usage of plastic bags in Pakistan. It can be done as the previous government in Punjab banned the sale of a cigarette without a packet in the province. Now shopkeepers are not selling one or two cigarettes openly. I think the government should ban the sale of plastic bags to minimize pollution.  Furthermore, Seminars must be conducted for the awareness of people about the harmful effects of plastic bags.

Government school and colleges must inform their students about it. A public campaign should be started for this purpose. We should promote the culture of cloth or paper bags in Pakistan to avoid the usage of plastic bags.
It’s not a difficult task but needs our proper attention. It is not only the duty of the government but our people should also avoid using plastic bags to control pollution.  Both government and the public simultaneously must take a step to avoid these plastic bags.
If we want to make Pakistan green and beautiful then we should avoid such plastic bags in new Pakistan. we must make our county more progress and beautiful. It will affect our health and minds.

  1. Plastic bags are truly a cause for concern and our government must take action to reduce their usage. The government should also implement recycling of plastic.
